KENDAMA is a modular typeface designed by Cici Dong using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. All letters are composed by three fundamental geometric shapes(rectangle, triangle, circle) altogether with lines. The icon consisting of the three fundamental is inspired by Kendama((けん玉), a traditonal Japnese skill toy. The three main parts of Kendama consists of a handle(similar as the triangle shape), a pair of cups (similar as the rectangle), and a ball (similar as the circle) that are all connected together by a string. When playing this toy, the gamer need to shaking the handle, so that the ball and the string will rotate, similar as the hovering state of this typeface. The viewers could interact with the typeface by hovering and clicking the letters. This project was completed in October 2021 for FL2021.F10.ART.433D.01 - Capstone in Design 1: Research Methods (Form and Interaction) with the help by Professor Jonathan Hanahan.
